The Hotel

Ever wondered what it’s like to stay in a micro-hotel in New York City with million-dollar views of Manhattan’s skyline? The Arlo NoMad promises compact rooms, stylish design, and a central location that makes exploring NYC effortless. I recently spent three nights here on my first trip back to New York in over a decade—and here’s everything you need to know before booking.

The Location: Midtown Convenience
11 E 31st St New York, NY 10016
The Arlo Nomad is located on East 31st Street between Madison and 5th Avenue, placing you in the middle of Manhattan. This boutique, contemporary hotel caters to digital nomads, business travelers, and city explorers. In the lobby, you’ll find a modern coffee shop and bodega, while the second floor offers workspaces—perfect if you’re traveling with a laptop in tow.
But of course, most people (myself included) book the Arlo Nomad for one reason: the views.
The Room: The Corner Queen Experience

I booked a Corner Queen room at around $400 per night. My first room was on the 18th floor, but I later switched to a higher floor for slightly better views. While the city skyline was beautiful, I quickly learned that if you want that iconic Empire State Building view, you’ll need to book one of the Sky View Rooms. Those are pricier, but worth it if views are your priority.
The room itself was compact but thoughtfully designed:
Bed: Comfortable, though a bit firmer than I prefer
Amenities: No mini bar, but a mini fridge and complimentary cans of water
Windows: They actually open—a rarity for NYC high-rises
Size: Small, as expected in a micro-hotel. Perfect for solo travelers, but tight for couples
Bathroom: Minimal privacy—something to note if you’re not traveling alone
Noise: The air conditioning was loud, and one night I was kept awake by late-night construction nearby. Remember, this is Midtown Manhattan—quiet nights are rare
Despite these drawbacks, I’d happily stay here again for the location and overall vibe.

Rooftop Bar: The Highlight of the Stay

The real showstopper at Arlo Nomad is the 31st-floor rooftop bar. Known as A.R.T. NoMad (Arlo Rooftop), this small but lively space offers panoramic views of the New York City skyline. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or not, it’s worth visiting for a cocktail and an unbeatable photo opportunity.

Final Thoughts: Is Arlo Nomad Worth It?
If you’re looking for a central Manhattan hotel with skyline views, Arlo Nomad delivers. The staff were friendly, the vibe was modern and trendy, and the location made exploring the city easy.
Would I stay here again? Yes—but next time I’d book a Sky View Room to make the most of those iconic New York views.
