What if I told you Edinburgh’s most Instagrammable café actually has two locations — and both are equally as floral and picture-perfect? If there’s a café in town with a floral wall and glitter in its drinks, I’ll find it. And in Edinburgh, that café is Laila.
Laila Old Town: A Floral Escape by the Royal Mile

Tucked away in Edinburgh’s Old Town, just a short stroll from the Royal Mile, Laila Old Town has become one of the city’s most iconic brunch spots. It’s instantly recognizable for its pink, floral interiors and dreamy, photo-ready atmosphere. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you’ll be tempted to snap a dozen photos before you even sit down.

But Laila isn’t just about the Instagram factor. The menu is just as inviting — think waffles stacked high with toppings, Mediterranean-inspired plates, and colorful brunch classics presented as beautifully as the café itself. They also offer something called Blossom Brunch, which is £35 per person (minimum two people) which includes a brunch main dish, one side and your choice between a Mimosa or a Peach Bellini.
And let’s not forget the drinks: two of their mocktails come sprinkled with edible glitter, which feels perfectly at home in such a whimsical setting. Add in a strong coffee or even a cocktail, and you’ve got the perfect spot for a full brunch or just a quick stop between exploring Edinburgh’s medieval streets.

Laila New Town: Glitter, Pastels, and Dinner Service

If you thought the Instagram magic ended in Old Town, think again. Laila’s New Town café is just as enchanting, filled with pastel tones, cascading floral details, and cozy corners that look tailor-made for your feed. I actually preferred this location — it felt a little calmer and cozier, especially when I ducked in to escape a classic Edinburgh summer storm.

Laila New Town is open Friday through Sunday and offers the same brunch favorites, but with an added twist: a Mediterranean-inspired dinner menu on Friday and Saturday nights after 5 pm. While they do take reservations, I found it just as easy to walk in.

And the drinks? Just as magical. I ordered something called the Ruby Rose — a rose-flavored latte dusted with glittering sugar — and couldn’t resist the charm. They also serve a Unicorn Latte, which looks exactly as whimsical as it sounds.

Final Thoughts: A Fairytale Brunch
No matter which location you choose, Laila feels like a fairytale brunch experience dropped into the heart of a historic Scottish city. The Old Town café wins for its central location near Edinburgh Castle and longer opening hours, while the New Town café feels a little more relaxed and offers that unique dinner service.
My advice? Don’t choose — visit both. Start your mornings with glitter lattes and floral walls, and let Laila add a touch of magic to your Edinburgh trip ✨
